Roll Up The Rim Etiquette?

we are having a conversation and are wondering if you all could share your opinions on what you think is right.
If someone buys Th coffee for other people, and one of their cups wins, who should get the prize? The person that bought it? Or the person who was given the winning cup?
This is clearly not something that I have to worry about, even though I have bought a couple dozen coffees for many people, there has only been 1 free donut. I am starting to get irked when I read the '1 in 9 cups are a winner' lol!
