employment question

So I'm wondering if it would be ok to apply for 2 positions in the same company. I was on a site and there are 2 positions that Im really interested in applying for one is a more senior position than the other but Im kind of qualified for both. Odviously I would like the more senior position but having said that Im not against the lesser one.
What would you do or what do you think is acceptable?
