Moving out from home, money?

I am curious..
When you moved away from home for the first time ever, how much money did you have saved up?
A friend of mine is moving out and she has $600 to her name. I am just wondering if she plans on moving uinder a brige or something, because to me, that is not enough money to move out on. I always believed you should have enough money for at least 4 months, incase something ever came up.
