Scratch ticket "chain letters" in mail?

Has anyone else received one of these?
In the mail was a letter and a scratch ticket from an old friend, and the letter said I had been tagged, and I had to send 6 letters to people I knew each with a scratch ticket in it etc... something about spending a few bucks to make people rich and happy.
Just wondering how far this has spread and if anyone is actually doing it? I kindly sent the ticket back to my friend letting her know I won't be passing this on. I find it silly thats all.
