How do i teach my dog to not chace cows

does anyone know any good ideas to stop my dog from chaceing cows? He thinks its fun to grab there tails, very frustrateing,id like him to take a few kicks, but im afraid he will end up in the neighbours pasture and mabey get a bullet.
