Repainting cement garden ornaments - questions
6/7/2010 at 9:58 AM
I have a few cement garden ornaments that need repainting - mainly a doe and two fawns which have really faded. As I looked at them this morning the doe and one fawn (other one I bought just a couple of years ago) are very faded and look to have black mold on them. They are heavy so they stay outside through the winter and I have not been covering thing. They do sit in under some shrubs so they do not get much sunlight.
I have plans to move them into the sunlight, srub them with a strong solution of bleach and water, let them dry well and coat with an alykd primer before repainting them. Does this sound like a good solution? Does anyone have any experience with this. I have been asked to repaint some for other people and what to do my own first.
Do you think that covering them in the winter would make any difference? Other than the paint they have been standing up very well.
Thanks for your help
