So heres the situation.  
 
I had a young couple walk into work tonight just as I was closing up for the night. Turns out the police had dropped them off in town because their car had broken down somewhere out on the highway so they gave them a ride too town. They were looking for somewhere to sit while they waited for their ride to show up.  
Now our town rolls up the sidewalks at 6 weekdays, and its even worse on Sundays. I offered to let them come to sit at my home while they waited. Its warm, dry, and at least a bit more comfortable then the concrete bench outside.  
They did turn down the offer Im sorry to say, and it makes me think.... Just how careful our society has become that we are now scared to accept even an honest offer of help when its needed.  
I would hate to think that if I ever needed help like this family did the offer would not be extended, but then I think... Would I accept?
