Austin Threshermans Reunion & Who Knows ?
8/2/2010 at 1:19 PM
Just wanted to say a friend and I attended my first "Reunion" as a visitor and not a volunteer and it was a great time. Got there early Sat. morn. and left Sun. morn after breaky. We put on alot of miles walking. We checked out alot of the old buildings, had some ice cream, had supper in the hall (great food), got our tickets for the rodeo and went into the beer gardens (while we waited for the rodeo to start.) What a "sin" - just beer and coolers ! After joking with the pretty good looking bartender that I had some Whisky in the tent, (the bartender joked that we(my friend and I) should share the whisky with him) I got a cooler and my friend got a beer. There were only about 6 other people in the beer gardens, so we chatted with the bartender and his female coworker for a few min. Joking about what is the best Whisky. We both agreed - Wisers. My friend and I went and sat down in the shade and enjoyed our drinks. We chatted about the day and the bartender. She even agreed that he wasn't bad looking either and funny. So if you are out there bartender (never got your name)- Nice blue eyes, mustache - goutee thing, nice smile, good sense of humour, no ring on the left hand (or atleast not wearing it)and were working around 6:30 - 7 Sat. - drop me a line - maybe we can chat. The rodeo was good. A friend of ours did pretty good in the barrels. The chariot racers are crazy - Would not catch me doing that - but I would jump right on with both feet for the match race. Hope the one female jockey (on the english saddle) is ok after her horse tried to duck out on her after the race. Saw her get up after a bit - sore today I bet. Fireworks were great - a few went too high for those of us in the stands - but great anyway. Went back to the beer gardens to see if the same bartender was still there to ask his name - no - done his shift. Oh well maybe he is out here. Never know. All in all had a great time. Maybe if my friend and I can wrangle up a camper for next year we will stay for the whole thing. I would recommend this summer event as a must see - atleast once. Great food, people, history and rodeo.
