Facebook status updates are an easy way for people to express themselves in a just a few words. But underneath each status lies a hidden message. Basically, what people write is not exactly what they mean.  
 
Take these common types of Facebook updates for example ...  
 
My baby/child did something-When people write anything about their kids it really means, "Look at me, I'm so happy with my family. Be jealous of my great life and cute baby."  
 
Hating a certain type of person-What they're really saying is, "Instead of having the guts to confront you directly, I'm going to make a broad generalization and direct it at your lifestyle."  
 
Complain about how busy life is-This really means, "I need everyone to tell me how they couldn't even imagine doing what I do."  
 
Boyfriend or husband is wonderful-This really means, "When he's not getting arrested he's a really great guy. I want all you girls to be jealous of how good he treats me, and all you exes to see what you're missing.
