Great Story

While I am still in awe of Bonds' achievements, this story still has to overshadow that.
Rick Ankiel, former pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals was sent down to the minors after about a dozen wild pitches in a matter of a week. He couldn't find the plate to save his life (or career!). The Cardinals decided to send him down to the minors and then the next year they won the World Series.
Ankiel, no doubt distraught about missing out on his ring, vowed to make a comeback in MLB as an outfielder. Obviously, this comment was met with laughs and rolled eyes by a lot of people.
Well, Ankiel was true to his word. After hitting 21 home runs in 35 minor league games he was called up by the big club and in his first game back in the majors, "OVER THE WALL... YEEESSSS". Welcome back to the bigs Rick Ankiel. He then followed that game with a two home run performance on Saturday. Fantastic story.
