travellers cheques

ain't what they used to be.Remember when you purchased tc's for ease of mind and ease of use, no more I think. Dark side...when we cashed a "American Express"(in american money) tc at a US bank we countersigned the cheque in front of them, showed picture ID, they phoned the AM company for confirmation and THEN we had to place a fingerprint on the damn thing.Okay great protection if someone stole them but a real hassle for John Q public, yet again. Also here in Canada the Royal Bank in Van was going to charge us $5 for the privilege of cashing another one( but no fingerprinting) until we showed our client card and a call to the AM company once again. That explains the billions in profit every quarter or so!
