i want to know who would i have to ask about becoming a electrician. i went to westbran & others told me that i can ask the companies if theyre accepting apprentices but ive only been in brandon for half a year & dont know who to ask. i wanted to become a electrician for quite a long time.

Go to Employment Manitoba on the main floor of the Provincial Building (340-9th Street) and let them know what you are looking for. They will be a great resource.  

Look up companies in the phonebook and call. You will probably get suggestions for other companies to try when you do that too. Also look up companies online and email your resume. I also did a mass faxing of my resume to a bunch of companies when I was looking, but I don't think that was really effective.

Apply to the college for the pre-employment program. You do no need to be apprenticed for that level.

I had done a pre-employment program, but I'm not sure I would recommend it. It can be hard finding a job even if you have the pre-employment training, and some guys would rather employ people with previous construction experience over someone who had done the pre-employment program. With the pre-employment program you are paying for training that you would get anyway, there is not guarantee of getting a job afterwards, you are not making money while going through the program, and you are not experiencing the same atmosphere as you should expect on the job.
