Winnipeg deaths: Any thoughts?

on this weekend's Winnipeg deaths?
The cab driver, only a month or so on the job, t-boned by 4 people in a stolen vehicle, at excessive speed & having ran a red light, by all accounts. Just a tragedy & referred to by one individual as the driver being "in the wrong place at the wrong time". IMHO there are far too many "wrong places" these days. I think it's so very wrong that this type of crime is treated in the same category as shoplifting a bag of chips, being "theft over or under" ($5000.00). This poor man was doing his job, earning a living & somehow that translates into being in the wrong place? Something's far wrong with our end of the world.
