I know it's only August - and I hate thinking about Christmas in the summer... but figure we better get on the ball (especially since things book up quick)  
so..  
we have about 20 people (including spouses) that we need to plan a Christmas party for. Some come from out of town... and I am completely drawing a blank as to what to do this year! lots of ideas please!!

The Private Dining Rooms at Remingtons are great! And the staff are always really friendly!

I have always wanted to do a Bring Your Own Balls Party.  
 
It is a pot luck theme so everyone has to bring something that is in the shape of balls. So meatballs, cheese balls, deep fried potato balls, croquets, croque-en-bouche ...you get the idea. Depending on the crowd you can divvy up the work and have a group bring balls for appetizers, balls for the main course and balls for dessert. You can even freeze flavoured drinks in round ice cube trays to put in your cocktails.

I suggest booking a community centre or a church basement. These usually have tables, chairs, coffee makers, etc. Then have family members start making meals and freezing them. e.g. lasagna, meatloaf, etc. Send everyone a 'suggested' menu such as 'lasagna and Caesar salad for one family. Veggie tray and a cheesecake for another. For entertainment I suggest musical chairs (need cd player with Christmas music) and/or have everyone bring a generic gift with a dollar amount limit. Have fun dreaming up ways to decide who gets to open what gift. I am getting excited just thinking of the possibilities. Have Fun!!!

It's summer..Enjoy it. Can't even believe some are thinking xmas..chill and enjoy our couple mths of amazing heat don't get me wrong I love xmas..no where near it now. I'd continue this thread in December

I have been in charge of plannig Christmas parties and if you want prime time Friday or Saturday and a popular place or caterer, you need to book now. Waiting till December you will be SOL.
