What is this bird?

I have a number of pictures of a juvenile bird that the dog brought into the yard. I have never seen a bird like it before and our bird book and online ID sites are not giving me anything close.
It has really pretty colored green (and some grey) on its long legs, a greyish to black cone beak, grey and a touch of white for plumage, and it is the size of a broiler chicken. It has partially webbed feet, so I think it is a wading bird.
The first picture shows the tail, which I know would still change with maturity.
The second shows an upside down picture of the bird on a shovel. I took it to show the underside color of the tail, which you can still see in the picture. I am not sure how to change the configuration. Sorry.
Third and fourth picture: wings
Fifth: the head. The green on it is a fly and the beak looks more grey with no pink if you see it in real life.
The sixth: the legs/feet
Any ideas?
