$100 per piece sounds a bit high, but these are certified, trained professionals that deserve to be paid for their service. Call around to see if there is a wide range of pricing??
Your other option is to wait until any of the local stores has an appraisal clinic. When I worked in the biz they would have a professional set up for a couple of days and do nothing but appraisals, usually at a reduced rate because the store is paying them for their overhead.
