Lately we were given permission to cut and burn an endless amount of "dead fall" firewood for our fire pit. The owner of the property would like the older stuff cleaned up. It is what I believe to be a variety of Maple. What are there, if any, concerns about burning this wood? What made me think about this were the signs along the road saying something like "Don't move fire wood"  
What are your thoughts?

Due to Dutch Elm Disease province tries to safeguard against infected wood spreading the disease, so make sure it isn't elm and you should be fine.

also depends on how far you are transporting the wood, they dont want you going into other provinces or hours down the road even but if its just a few miles over and there is no infestations in the bush you are probably ok with wood other then elm  
 
other then that dead fall can burn quicker but it will be well seasoned
