Curious as to what everyone is paying for cable/internet packages with either MTS or WCG, and what are the best ways to keep costs down.  
 
Currently, we are paying for a mid-level high speed internet and the cheapest cable package offered - runs over $150/month (internet takes priority over tv, but we would still like to have some channels avail).  
 
Does anyone have anything cheaper that's not on a promotional plan?

I have MTS package. Includes:  
- Home phone(with unlimited long distance North America),  
- Internet(lightning 10),  
- TV(includes basic plus 3 channel packages and with 3 tv boxes and PVR),  
- basic Wireless phone (no data, just voice)  
 
Paying all for $165 with taxes. I do get a AAA alarm discount in that price.

$150 is pretty expensive. High speed internet and basic TV with MTS is around $110.

Most people on Westman start with either a ValueChoice or HomeChoice for their cable service. The ValueChoice package has 25% more channels than the comparable MTS package and more than double the HD channels in same packages. There are 5 different ranges of Westman Internet and the slowest of Westman speeds is 20% faster than the Lightning10 mentioned above. ValueChoice (mid-level cable) and Wave (slowest Westman internet at 12Mbps down and 2.5Mbps up) is $122.90+tax You can add home phone and still be under $150+tax/mth bundled.  
 
Both companies have very similar pricing. Of course I am biased as I work at WCGtv (Westman), but we feel our benefits of faster speeds, more channels in basic packages, quick reliable support, equity payouts to members, and of course our local TV channel makes Westman a very attractive option for those on the fence.

For Internet and two tvs connected, hd channels and movie central I pay approx $170 after tax. TV services can be pretty expensive but CRTC has just mandated that all cable providers have to offer a basic package starting at $25 but that doesn't need to be in affect until end of 2016. So for those who can live without all the bells and whistles will soon get a break!

For what it's worth, the skinny basic will be in effect early 2016 not end of 2016.

aren't equity payments only payed out if a the person moves out of Westman communication area?

Memory serves me correctly I think they have done a couple of payouts over the past couple of years??

We gave up on cable tv and home phone. even with bundling it was getting to costly. After coming off the promo plan we were gonna be charged well over $200..and thats with bundling home phone, internet and "prism" which we were told we had to get now that it was all installed. Plus we had our two cell phones.  
We kept our cell phones, cause we need them. I added a small long distance ($10/mo) to the us so i could talk with my aunt once in a while. (she had been the only reason we had the land line)  
We kept the internet (67.89 for wave and wifi)cause we use it alot...and now use Netflix and Turboflix (8.99 and 3.99 respectively)  
So our "bundle" went from over $200 to 90.78  
Over all we are very happy.
