Need Help In Dealing With Bps

Alright Ebrandoners
I've been very conflicted about asking the public for advice regarding my situation , but as always , all my other options have fallen through the cracks .
In June I rented a room to woman in her 30's claiming to be on assistance ,
Long story short the woman was abusing drugs and was brining them in my home , I have photo and video evidence I took when I found it .
I then proceeded to tell her she had till the end of the month (2 weeks at the time) to find a new home , but if she brought that stuff in my house again she would be out that instant.
I went to winnipeg the 15th of June for work , packing EVERYTHING a girl needs for the week . I returned the night of the 19th shortly before midnight , locked my 2012 vehicle ( it has a very good security system )
And left my weeks worth of stuff in my vehicle .
This woman came into the house sometime in the night, stole all the prescription medication , all the spare keys from the hanger , my wallet , jeep keys and even my dogs neutering prescription .

In the process of stealing my jeep she backed into my boyfriends car writing it off , which MPI I will mention still made him cover his deductible because it was not considered a "hit and run" because I owned the vehicle that hit him

To sum this up... The vehicle was recovered , in bad shape obviously , it had been entirely emptied - from my pillow to my military dress uniform
Laptop, jambox , my Michael kors , coach , all gone .
To this day I am still dealing with MPI to have it properly cleaned and repaired - not to mention my insurance went up of course

This woman then had the nerve to come back on the 29th while we were at work and steal more !! She stole expensive Jewelery , a flat screen and money . - to this we had an eye witness - a statement was taken

We saw this individual Driving around Canada day , called it in as BPS had no so much as looked for her , and they were able to bring her in for questioning .
She sat there in the station high as a kite and admitted to stealing The TV !

So ... BRANDON POLICE SERVICE -
All in all my experience had been revolting . I have not been contacted in months , the general disposition to me is sorry , sucks , learn from your lesson we are too busy with country fest . I ask what I can do .... "Just have to wait " , ask if there are any services at my disposal as at this point I am out shy of $5k ... Response " nope "

I am at the point of making a formal complaint , or sending my dissatisfaction in the right direction , but do not want to make things worse for myself and piss people off . Suggestions ?
Credible legal action is what I'm hoping for .

the formal complaint is probably the best route, at least you get their attention: i would also send a registered copy to ian grant, he is a good guy but a lot of monkeys to work with

So the Brandon Police Service told you they couldn't do anything because they were too busy dealing with Countryfest?...Dauphin`s two hours away, so what's that got to do with anything.

But having said that there's not much the Police can really do other than investigate, make an arrest and try to recover the stolen property, which from the sounds of it they have done, other than recover the stolen property I assume?

Thank you for your advice !! Just wanted to make sure I didn't sound totally crazy . Is Ian Grant at the police station or an outside contact ?

Yes , country fest is quite the lame excuse . But sounds better than , it's not a priority to us I guess .
From what I've been told by other people with police service back ground is at the very least when she came in obviously high , she should of been put in detox and the TV should of been recovered or her charged with theft .
To BPS, this point it's as if it never happened, I was in the station well over 2 months ago notifying the officer assigned to my case I saw her walking new my new home with a new guy . He said he would contact her ex who helped her steal the TV and see if his story has changed . Haven't heard a peep since

Keep at them as well, show up at the police station because if you don't they seem to forget. I hate people like that. I'm dealing with a similar personality who admits to the crime than goes haha good luck. It's annoying and disgusting. So good luck

You will likely end up persuing a civil case which will mean getting a lawyer which will cost you money. If you eventually win you will likely never be able to collect any money from this person.

Is it laws or lack of resources or the court system that make these things difficult?

she could go the small claims route that only costs $50 no lawyer needed but i agree the likelihood of collecting on the settlement isnt high

probably combination and I don't so much believe in justice. If you are a good crook you will know how to go around thing and get away and if you don't know laws ...you are screwed

Victim's Services

I would contact Victim's Services as they can often play an advocacy role between the police and victims of crime. They also know proper channels and procedure. Good luck to you.
