They say that the third party agency is allotted so many rooms but if the hotel overbooks, they can overrule and then you are left without a room. I will be sticking to calling direct to hotels from now on. It is really frustrating especially if you are travelling a distance and you arrive and the hotel says they cant give you a room and it was like pulling teeth to get a refund from the agency or the hotel. Might pay more but at least you are guaranteed a room when you arrive. " |

Third Party sites suck. I think it was Redtagdeals.com? Or maybe it was Hotels.com...
Anyway, once I arrived I had to switch rooms twice (First room had wet carpet - like, soaked.... second room had DEFINITELY been smoked in, couldn't breath) and they weren't able to comp me for all that hassle because I paid through a third party who already had my money.
When I went to check out, the Front Desk girl mistakenly tried to get me to pay, but I explained that I had already paid through the website - unfortunately the rate she was about to charge me was cheaper than what I paid. I complained, even asked to speak to a manager, but again they couldn't refund me anything because it wasn't them who took my money.
They said that hotel rates change all the time depending on season and occupancy, and those third party sites don't have access to those rates, so they advised me to book directly through the hotel in the future.
