Where do you purchase yarn in larger quantities.  
 
I find michaels good for small projects but WAY to pricey for larger ones.  
 
I ordered from KnitPicks, and seems to be decent quality and price was better, mostly.  
 
Is there somewhere good in winnipeg? or even the USA to pick up yarn?

New store on 6th street between Rosser and Pacific. Haven't been there yet, but you could try there. I need to get there....  

Knit2Scrap2 is a great shop for good quality yarn. The price appears expensive, but when you calculate the value of your time you put into the project, it is very comparable.  
 
It is on Sixth Street between Princess and Lorne, in the old Radics Sales building.  

Are online right now if you make huge projects or are knitting or crocheting to make a profit.  
Knit picks is good, but the US prices hurt when we order now with the loonie being so low.  
Herrschners(?) not sure about spelling of it, has an online site and it always has good prices on all kinds of yarn, even the expensive lion brand yarn which I find a bit better in quality. They have a wide selection of yarns. Shipping is reasonable too. Once I had a box delivered to me so big they had to tell me to pick it up the back loading doors of the local post office!  
I love the yarns at Knit2Scrap2 in town but they are more expensive and better for personal projects for yourself or if you make for gifts for friends and family.  
All depends what you are looking for and if you are selling finished work or just making for yourself or use for a hobby.

you are on fb you can check out the knit2scrap2 page. They have a huge selection of yarn and as far as I know its all locally made. Its not the kind of yarn you would pick up from Walmart or Michaels. Very specialty driven. No idea of the prices but it looks very pretty. Also I believe she will special order for people too. The store is located in the old Radics building downtown off Princess.

I had no idea there was a place downtown... i wish i had of known before making my order online and buying recently from michaels.

have found quality yarn at Wool on Wolseley(?) and Ram Coop(on Portage), both in Winnipeg. They are both expensive. I have bought wool from Michaels and found it good quality but expensive.  
I would like to hear more from people who have ordered wool online, I have wanted to do that, but I was afraid of not getting the same dye lot in the order. Are there any online sites someone would recommend?

Is a lovely store. Connie carries lots of beautiful yarn. She carries some local alpaca yarn as well as roving for spinners. She offers classes from learn to knit, thrum mittens, has an upcoming knitting boot camp that offers a lot. Check out the class schedule on the Facebook page. Wednesday nights is knit night, bring s project and sit and knit with other crafters.
