What are the things in Brandon that should be removed.  
For me the the large sign the is promoting the CIS volleyball nation championship that was 6 months ago and still is up at 18 th and Victoria.

The old Eleanor Kidd park. I know it might be beyond repair at this point, but at least do some minor clean up.

the Discovery Centre too, its a real mess. That is a little treasure in the middle of our city and the pathways toward the river are so overgrown that the weeds rub your shoulders as you walk thru, not to mention the pathway light that is almost falling over, and has been for over a year.

Yes Eleanor Kidd is a mess, good for all the tourists that travel through Brandon on 10 highway. The city has two or three big heavy duty mowers, a short time in the park would have it cleaned up. Maybe we need to go after our city parks board about it. Also all the old signs left when a business closes or leaves, for example Stan's fine foods.

And I say that as a strident pro-choicer and feminist. As long as the ad company that owns the benches is not turning down ads from pro choice groups, this falls into the category of free speech. Yes they annoy me and I disagree with them, but we cannot forbid opinions we don't share from the public forum.

These ads often have explicit pictures, we wouldn't like to see pictures of knee surgeries or open skulls, I don't want to see pictures of fetuses etc. on ads intended to make women feel uncomfortable about exercising their rights.

murder was murder. If women can kill babies then other people should be able to kill too. What's the difference? A life is a life. A soul is a soul.  
 
Women have decided that they have the right to kill. And they live with the consequences after. Just ask a few of them. There's a good reason those advertisements should stay put. People are so self-absorbed. They need to be reminded of how if feels and what it really means to take a life.  
 
How is taking a life in the womb carelessly, different from the baby most of them have a few years later once they've found their life-long mate? Why do women feel they can pick and choose which child they will keep? That doesn't sound at all like anything a Mother would willingly put herself through or her children. There are options and people waiting for children. We are a very selfish society.

the only thing I can think of to "take down" is the outdated pylon messages/ads - when the sale is over - get out there and take that dated ad down . . .

They want everything sugar coated so they can feel good about their decision.

Is the painting for 'Nurses Week' (or something like that) still on the window of the health region office in the Town Centre parking lot? It has to be at least 2 years old.

Either take it down or start maintaining it. Its a eyesore sitting there looking abandoned. Seriously, if it was at least cleaned up its an amazing place for photos.

Yikes didn't know such a simple question can turn into such a huge thing. I would just say that people who put up the signs and kind of sign..needs to take the responsibility of taking them down.(in a timely manner). But I also think something needs to be done to Eleanor kidd park..use to be a great walking path thru. Now completely over run by grass, weeds, etc.

My opinion on this is as long as the sign was put up by the owner of the property and they still own the property, they should have every right to keep their sign up for as long as they want. As for signs put up on public property, yard sale signs on boulevards and the like, there are laws governing how long those signs can be up. Those signs are considered to be temporary.  
 
If the bus stop benches belong to a privately owned company and not transit, then it should be up to that company to decide who they will accept ads from. Even then there are limitations imposed by overreaching governments, for example no tobacco or alcohol advertising allowed, (to my knowledge anyway).  
 
If a business owner wants to leave up their Christmas window paintings, who are they hurting?

We were there today and it's a mess...used to be a nice place to take the kids for a picnic and a play at the park....it's overgrown, dirty and not family friendly....

or better yet not put there in the first place.... yard sale signs IN, or in front of any floral displays that the city works so hard to plan, plant and maintain for our enjoyment!

Predestrian sidewalk lights on both sides of the bridge have not worked since the opening of the bridge, which was in 2010, 6 years and they cannot fix them?

Not a hazard or an eye sore, but there's a telephone pole just on the other side of the kullberg's furniture warehouse on the south end of the 18th rail bridge.  
 
I remember there had been a pickup truck parked next to it for years, and then one morning it looked like someone had set a light to the truck. Leaving the pole singed and black from the window height and up.
