I have a visual impairment & when it comes to stairs / steps I have a heck of a time knowing where the edge of steps are especially businesses example my Westoba CU who do you contact ? Who would you contact about getting the city to do painting for contrast ?

If it's a business you are having problems at, I would assume you would contact them (like the credit union) if the steps or sidewalk are on their property. The only thing the city could do is tell you if there is a bylaw in place stating businesses have to do this or something similar. But sorry to say, most businesses won't make adjustments just for one customer.

I am ASD and hearing impaired. Causes a certain amount of vertigo and not knowing where my limbs are. Yes, I can be fun at parties.  
 
I would avoid complaining as all public buildings are in compliance with zoning laws.  
 
A better tact is to research stair and step paint technology and present them with ideas of how to make it safer for the visually impaired.  
 
Don't expect a lot of "We will get right on that".

I worked at a business when a customer told us he was having problems seeing the edge of our concrete steps. He suggested just painting the edge with yellow paint. We did as he suggested and he was happy with the result. A simple fix to prevent an accident.

My mom tripped twice in two different situations such as this. Complain to the manager. Something should be done.
