I have used hydraulic log splitters but never an electric one. Thinking of buying an electric one and would like to hear people's experiences - good and bad.

We have a small electric one, not sure what size you are thinking. We have had it for probably 5 years and it splits all our wood for the winter and wood heat is our primary heat source in the winter. It is a little bit slow, but the benefit is you're not chopping wood with an axe at -35! We always split our wood in the fall and wouldn't do it any other way now.

I have an electric as well, it has worked very well.
The only issue is if you can put them on a table to work,
hard bending over to split a cord of wood.

I have a 4 ton electric logsplitter that has chopped many a cord of wood. I personally would not be without one. Also, I believe they were on sale at Peavey Mart for $210. Great price.

It has come in real handy.
Princess Auto has the 4 ton with a stand for $350.00
or the 5 ton is $220.00

a 4 ton electric for about 8 years, and it splits everything we need to split. The only drawback is that on the stand it tends to be top heavy, and will tip on uneven ground.
