Just a general warning. I use this online retailer a lot, but a friend of mine, recently made a purchase on a deal for a laptop which was advertised as a special deal. Part of the purchase involved buying vouchers to exchange for the item. This he did and the voucher was issued.So the fact that the voucher was issued means that the C Card company will not cover the item not arriving. So he lost $950 and because the seller was a marketplace user Amazon won't cover the deal either. Personally I think Amazon have a duty of care to all their customers and maybe should check out these Marketplace Sellers before allowing them to trade. Anyway just a warning as I said aand I will be looking out for deals with voucher transactons and avoiding them

Don't ever buy a voucher from someone on the street, or go buying one for someone else. Super shady.  
 
I've had people swear to me they were legit transactions.and sent them packing. Alot of people all over the streets of San Francisco are using this scam. And many other places.

I'm confused, why would someone buy vouchers for an item they intend to purchase, why not just purchase it outright ?

That smells like scam before you would even do it. Why would one buy vouchers to buy an item on Amazon make NO Sense!

Buying something to then pay for something is an ongoing ruse. What ever is being ultimately paid for, does not exist.  
 
This has nothing to do with Amazon.  
 
This has everything to do with someone "finding" an amazing deal that they get suckered into quickly.  
 
Very, very, common in the car world. On CL, in the US, $10,000 cars get advertised for $2500, free shipping, in a container, free week of trial, free returns, in the container. "Please pay with gift cards"
