it seems as though most for sale ads I post get response from the same group of buyers. They want to buy sight unseen and want to pay paypal. They all use broken and bad English and have unrecognizable area codes. Does anyone know what the scam is?

The buyer pays with paypal, then either claims the item was never recieved or it came damaged. They say want a refund ect and then because pay pal protects buyers they take the money back. Its a crappy situation unfortunatly too many times it has happened. Anyways hopfully no one falls for this scam.

Recently I have been recieving messages from people who are wanting to purchase the item (usually furniture) with a cheque, and then wanting to pick up the item at a later date. I tell them to pay cash on pickup and they don't response back after that. Whats the deal with that?

I believe that is the one where they will mail a cheque for more than the purchase price. They will then tell you they are stuck out of town, so you are to use the extra money to pay cash to X movers who they have arranged to pick up the item for them. Trouble is, the cheque will not clear, so you are out your item, and the cash you give the "movers".

Nothing really new. Same scam or a variation of ones from the past. Not sure why anyone would accept PayPal for an eBrandon transaction. A little common sense, meet the buyer in person and have them pay cash if they can't or don't want to do this then move on to the next buyer.  
 
If you think ebrandon is bad try listing a car for sale on AutoTrader. You will get replies from every Nigerian Prince and Princess in the World!!
