The June 15th calendar occasion
6/15/2008 at 11:09 PM
It ends up nice story. Today I was talking to an elderly man while getting coffee at an out of town place. He was wearing a suit and looked rather lost in thought as he sat alone. We began a conversation and with a heavy heart he had talked of the son his wife had lost while carrying. Luckily he had other children but he was rather sad about this loss on the occasion, he also talked about his wife's passing. I had other things to be done but I decided to stop awhile.
So he told me about his life of hardships, religion, family, working on the farm and how he didn't have enough money now and people were always asking for his help. I gave him a hot chocolate for which brought a smile and the conversation turned to how lucky and fortunate we all are to live in Canada instead of some war torn country, in extreme poverty. He prayed at the table twice for me. I guess there is a lot of people in this world that paths will meet and bring us a gift, religious or not. It was like the nice Grandpa I never had for a moment and seniors have more wisdom, knowledge and have been through so much. Someday we could be the person at the coffee shop looking for someone to talk to. I don't know if I will ever see this person again but I know that days were brightened on both sides.
