Clear lake

Has always had the itch ever since I can remember. In all the years I have been going there.... I have had it once.. Maybe I am just lucky or more immune than others because I have seen some folks with a bad case.
however the best defense is to simply towel off well when you come out of the water.
there are literally 100's of people in the water all the time either at the main beach, frith, spruces, at the swim docks or out skiing/tubing. If the itch was a serious issue you would not see that many people out enjoying the water.
main beach has a shower head to use, lacking that use your towel to dry off.
if your looking for good canoe/kayaking, try Lake katherine there is public access plus picnic grounds, there used to be a decent beach there but maybe not any more.
also for kayaking try Moon lake, has a small beach, also Grayling lake is calm water and whirlpool down highway 19
clear lake will be chopped up due to boat traffic unless you do the evening.
if you are taking your canoes or kayaks in any water in RMNP make sure you get the inspection done for invasive species. heavy fines for circumventing that process.
