A Nevada sheriff says at least 50 people are dead and at least 200 are injured in connection with a Las Vegas concert shooting.

The gun lobby will say if the crowd had m16 the outcome would have been different, of course the Mandalay Bay would only be 10 feet high when the shooting stopped. Glad fully auto guns and hand guns are restricted here.

So so terrible. It did say on NBC it wasn’t terrorist related. Still horrifying non the less.

Most of us wake up in the morning concerned about our problems, and what we will accomplish in the day ahead. I usually get up early to take the time to watch different sources of news, and check out the business world. There seems to be far to many days that getting up early just ruins the whole day.  
So many lives will be affected by this shooting, and although I'm a gun owner, it makes one wonder, if our neighbor to the south, needs to take a serious look at the right to bare certain weapons.  
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this shooting, but that will never turn back the hands of time, the only hope is to look forward.

What an odd reaction to such a terribly sad, horrific & life-altering happening in Vegas. (You do know that many guns can be easily altered to become automatic & a reminder that Timothy McVeigh killed soooo many more people in Oklahoma without a shot being fired).  
This is a sad, sad day for all involved at whatever level.

But I would also say that you couldn't have done this in Canada. You can easily alter a gun that's already designed to kill many people very quickly from semi to fully automatic. You cannot alter my shotgun or any of my 7 rifles to become automatic..because they were not designed to kill large numbers of anything. My point being, the availability of this gun is what killed those people...and it's going to happen again, and again and again and again while everyone argues about it.

I didn't realize it was a "joke". Not going to get into which weapons can or can't be altered; not the point of the thread.

First my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the fifty. The same to the wounded and their family and friends.  
 
I knew Vegas or think Vegas will be a target of terrorists. I know and think security would stop it. Not this domestic crap.  
 
The USA needs to up date it's gun controls a tad. Specifically ammo availability and clip sizes.  
 
It is interesting that three separate witness saw security at the concert boot two Hispanics from the concert site 45 minutes before the mayhem They were warning about certain death coming..

I see there have been two Manitoba girls injured, two Canadian's dead (from BC and AB)

So sad to hear this. My condolences go to the families of the dead and injured. I understand the toll is up to 58 deceased and many more injured.  
 
ISIS has already taken responsibility by claiming -without proof- that the shooter had converted to islam a few months ago. The alt-right conspiracy theorists have taken this and have run with it. I just hate seeing such a tragedy politicized and taken advantage of by those with such screwed up agendas.

I watched the news this evening and heard that the gunman went on for twenty minutes shooting randomly. I can't imagine what those poor people went through. Then to hear a young lady from Brandon passed away because of it. My heart, prayers and condolences go out to all of the victims and families who had to go through this.

that Tara (Smith) Roe formerly of Brandon has passed from the Las Vegas. Originally from the, The Eagle 100.9 in Okotos.

I listen to satellite radio at work. While they don''t have commercials I noticed that there wasn''t much talk on the country music stations I listen to. Today I heard one of the on air personalities saying that he and some of the others were at the concert during the shooting. He stated they were all home now safe and gave a list of adjectives to try to explain what he was feeling but I don''t think he ever found the right one. They are just playing music for a few days while they all regroup.  
Another DJ aired a message saying he was ok...his family was thankful he was home but he got on his bike and rode to his "happy place". He said he was recording his message from that place and that while he didn''t have the words to express what he was feeling he said that this problem won''t be solved soon but the first answer to all the questions was LOVE. Then he said "#prayforVegas is great but when (not if) the next crisis like this hits it will fade from the headlines like the other have". He is right. There will be other killings like this. I dont'' pretend to understand them but feel they will continue. I don''t have the answers but maybe the first answer really is LOVE.  
Then I heard a song by country artist Maren Morris. It was done with Vince Gill and it is called Dear Hate. Very touching song. If you get a chance to YouTube it listen. There wasn''t a video when I looked and it was apparently written a few years ago but they couldn''t find the right time to release it. She has stated any money that she makes from this song will go to charity.  
I am at a loss for words like so many. It touched home now what a former Brandon resident has been identified.I hate to say it but these things are going to keep happening closer and closer to home.  
I am not preaching or anything like that. Just felt the need to get my thoughts out there.

Nothing will change in the States. If 20 dead children can bring about gun control regulation nothing will.  
 
And after the Sandy Hook shooting the NRA and gun rights advocates clung to their guns tighter than they did their children.
