anyone hear any updates just wondering I know people in the area .

The article mentions hitting a concrete retaining wall first, I wonder if it's that new one they just installed this summer, I often drive by wondering why they didn't put it higher or string a steel cable system across it.  
 
My biggest fear driving in the park has always been going over that spot as it is so wide open and not many trees to stop or slow you down.  
 
Icy roads and wildlife could be just as fatal as the speed and or alcohol factor in this instance.

And, Huchster, that is my fear. That road is too easy to lose control on. Came around a bend, on Wednesday, and there was an Elk staring at me. I decide to stop and a second one pops out of the bush and they sorta stand, in front of me, looking at me.

wasn't wearing a seatbelt - ejected from the truck, speed and alcohol also a factor.

my biggest concern is " speed and alcohol involved".  
No matter what safe guards you put in , stupidity still reigns supreme.  
It is like putting up stop signs, if no one stops for them they mean nothing.

Unless they changed it after recently repaving a lot of it, the speed limit has always been 80, or maybe just a typo.  
 
And yes the roads are perfectly fine in normal weather, that one spot though has always scared me.  
 
Anyone not familiar with it, you come around a curve into a short straight that on one side has a wide open spot, I would say 20 or 30 feet wide (?) that appears to be a shear drop off.  
 
My fear isn't speed related as I don't generally speed in the park, it's more that if a larger animal like a moose or elk were standing there I might panic and swerve that way as the only other way is into the oncoming lane.

Maybe slow down to 70 when you know that section is there and it scares you?

You're probably right, I was trying to remember if it was 80 or 90. In either case, it's not 100 and people should keep that in mind, because there is a reason for it.

The speed limit through the Park is ONLY 80km/hr.

going down the hill at that curve it is actually 50km/h. For this specific reason. Alcohol impairs your judgement and reaction time and bad weather and wildlife can cause loss of control. This accident was avoidable.
