In need tips on how to start up my business , how should I apply , what procedures do I need to take. Thinks I should concentrate on and just general tips from people who've done it. I'd like not to make mistakes others have made so any info would be helpful. I'm starting a small plumbing heating and renovation company. Thank you

Go to the Provincial Building on 9th St. Right next to thw security guard's podium is a business office.  
 
They have a 4 or 5 page document specific to the city of Brandon, that has step by step instructions on what you will need and how about to go at it.  
 
You will need to first register a business name, then get a PST and GST number, then banking, then a city licence. There is a lot more...read the document. It helped me.
