I want to get a special family a gift for Christmas. the kids range in age from 10-16. 3 boys one girl. sporty family.  
 
their mom has been extra important to a lot of people this year and it is due to an accommodating family that she can have the time to help others.  
 
I want them to know I appreciate their mom and the fact that they maybe do not get to spend as much time with her while she is helping others.  
 
So I am looking for family friendly ideas. cost is not an issue or my concern. I want family fun value in the gift.  
 
Swim passes, hockey tickets, movie tickets, hotel stay, are all ideas I have had. hoping ebrandon folks have some ideas to share.  
 
maybe you have done something extra fun as a family you could share with me as an idea.

Several years ago we did a family sleigh ride at elkhorn resort. So much fun. Check it out.

You could rent the family a cottage at the Elkhorn Resort for a 3 day weekend. Snowmobiling, sking, sleigh ride, and indoor swimming for the kids. Spa treatment and a cozy fireplace for the mother and daughter. Pricey but it sounded like that was not an issue fot you.

How about gift certificates from different restaurant or maybe do some food choices for them.  
A gift card for groceries or gas.  
Would a hockey game be something that would be in order.

I agree with that. It is like getting free stuff and they get to choose the free stuff. Get them from different stores.  
 
 
They get to choose exactly what suits them best.

eg "Movie night" with popcorn, peanuts, choc bars, "Snow Day" with hot choc mix, fuzzy slippers, cookies "Game Night" with a game like Trouble, snack mix, assorted little prizes from $1 store
