I am a supporter of Taxpayer.com and this new potential tax needs our help to stop it. At what point do we give all our earning to the government and they pay us what they think we need.

I don't like the idea, but I would be even more concerned about what other taxes this could affect.

You're consumed by this? This is what keeps you up at night? all the things going on in the world and THIS is what you bother people with?

This website says the tax (per bottle) goes up at the same rate as inflation. Therefore the taxes remain neutral compared to your earnings. How is this a problem?

You are confusing inflation with earnings. Many workers income has not kept up with inflation. Add to that municipal and school taxes that occasionally go up much more than the inflation rate, and eventually our wages will all be consumed by tax.  
 
Perhaps the government (in particular the provincial government) could attach the basic personal deduction to an escalator to keep up with inflation. It seems like the provincial deduction has not moved in years.
