help for furniture placement in my L shaped LR

My living room is long and open on one side to my dining room. I would like ideas as to what kind of furniture I can use in this room. I will be shopping for new furniture for this room, and am a little overwhelmed. I know it should likely be on a small scale, as the living space is smaller than the actual room, as I would not want to have furniture through the length, and would probably need to set up a 'sitting' area. Any and all ideas welcome! Thanks in advance
