On February 4th 1981 the C. P. Express Featuring Ms. Angela Kelman,

a then recent graduate of Crocus Plains Regional High School entertained the throngs of Students from the three High Schools at a mass Rally in the Gymnasium of the First Street High School while awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
On arrival the Prime Minister was surrounded by R.C.M.P bodyguards, and was escorted to the stage by School Staff.
The P.M. seemed genuinely overwhelmed by the warm reception, and mentioned it was a surprise, being that the Liberal Party rarely receives more than ten votes in any election.
The content of his speech escapes me, but the highlight of his visit was a presentation of a Canadian flag that had been flown on the Peace Tower in Ottawa.
Not every one was eager to see the Prime Minister as a delegation of Brandon University students paraded in front of the High School with a clear message: “Say NO to the Garrison Project.”
Note: Angela Kelman has appeared with the singing trio named Farmers Daughter for over ten years.
