I'm a day late on this but Feb 20, 1959 Prime Minister Diefenbaker announces in the House that the Avro Arrow project is cacelled - effective immediately.  
 
There is one Brandon connection that was supplied to me after posting the Fred Brown story .... his son, Stan Brown, played an important role in that project as head of electronic design.  
 
After the project he remained in the airline industry working on DeHavilland's Beaver, then DASH 7 project.
