First Tenders were called for construction of the Brandon Armouries to be built at 11th Street, and Victoria Avenue, but were continually delayed.
Three times previously the plans had been altered, and with each successive
change the proposed headquarters of an Infantry Battalion, and Cavalry
Regiment were enlarged at progressively increasing costs.
Ten months later, work was started on three-story brick, and stone edifice,
a large brick fence for security surrounds it.
The late Gothic Revival structure rests on a stone foundation, and all the
exterior walls are brick covered as well as having a metal gable roof. Other
features of the roof include a battlement, a tower, and a ventilator.
The building exterior is decorated with a brick belt and has a recessed entrance. As inscription stone shows the date of construction, and a monumental stone rests on the front lawn.
