My grandfather Charles Edward Basrub

Hi all
I have been trying so hard for many years to get any info on my grandfather. He has been gone a long time now. He lived 421 10th S, where city hall parking lot is. The brick house to the south was his next door neighbour. Their name was O'Niel. He worked for the CNR for many years. He was a brakeman until a fall from the train badly injured his leg. He then became a conductor From Brandon to Moosejaw and Regina. Before all this he was supposed to have had an egg candling business during the depression. It seems he was doing something else as well, unscrupulous as my other granfather would say. By the way he was owner of Chrest dry cleaners on Rosser if anyone remembers. Anyway, Basrub had lots of money, far too much to run an egg candling business as they had new cars and servants. I don't think this was his real name as I have done everything possible to find anyone named Basrub and the name just doesn't exist until he arrives in Brandon about age 14. That would be around the turn of the century. I also know that he attended Wheat city business school, no records there and supposed to have served in the army during WWI. He would tell no one where he was born nor anything about his family, not even his wife, Pearl Irene Graham. He would get very angry and agitated if anyone asked. He had a slight German accent. I thought maybe he was runaway from a mennonite or hutterite group, Well whatever his name was, Basrub is a doozy. I have traveled all over the world , looked in hundreds of phone books and no such person. I hope someone that might have a kernal of info might see this.
HELP!
