1129 Queens Avenue, Brandon, is designated a Provincial Heritage Site.
The Brandon Normal School was built in 1913 at a cost of $500,000. This building has provided educational opportunity for hundreds of men and women from western Manitoba and graduated teachers for more than a quarter century.
The last teachers to graduate from this school were in 1940. In 1943 the building was used by the Department of National Deference(DND), which continued for the duration of the Second World War.
After the war there were unsuccessful efforts to reinstate the teacher-training program, but instead the building was turned into the Agricultural Extension Centre in 1959, which provided accommodation and meeting facilities for education and agricultural related workshop and meetings.
Today the building is used for a miss mash of assorted offices, and the dinning room is closed.
