This first bit is not directly related to the baby but about funeral homes ... in 1926 I found a reference to the "new funeral home of MacPherson and Bedford at 128 11th Street". The last reference I can find to a funeral at the home is in April 1952.

If you have more info on the person feel free to let me know. I've done a bit of research into early public health / welfare. I might not find a name match (but I can try them in the Winnipeg papers). If I had a year I can go back to some old books or contacts that I have and perhaps find what sort of policies or programmes existed at the time that could be a reason for sending someone so far away.
They had some weird things that they did back then in the name of 'child welfare' !
