Brandon History Buffs Unite: The Quill Archive Project !
10/8/2010 at 7:19 PM
If you check out the story below in this week's The Quill you'll note that the BU archive has recently digitized the entire run (1927 - 1984) of the BU yearbook 'The Sickle'. (it will be posted on-line in a searchable format down the road).
Next up, they are hoping to digitize the entire 100 year history of The Quill, BUs student newspaper !
Given the big role that BU has had in the region over the century, this is a really big deal ! Brandon, no offence, has terribly little in the way of home-based local history on the 'net. The opportunity to have 100 years of a community newspaper on-line would be a real treasure.
The article says that the project will cost $7k and will be spread out in a number of phases (presumably as monies become available).
History buffs, this is definitely a project worth making sure happens !
