The hanging of Louis Riel: 125 years later

It was 125 years ago today that Louis David Riel went to the gallows.
Despite the time that has passed Riel is still a polarizing figure, often showing that split between the east and the west.
I am glad that in Manitoba we have chosen to recognize him as a man who fought for the people of the West and, in the end, was a major factor in taking Manitoba into Confederation.
There are some great on-line resources, many with primary sources, that allow us to know more about the man than the media portrayal from over a century ago.
