Historical Brandonites: James Kirkaldy
5/13/2007 at 1:15 PM
Someone asked me about more information on "James Kirkaldy" who is buried in Brandon and, presumably, for whom Kirkaldy Drive is named.
The only reference I could find was on the city of Brnadon site:
"Our fourth Chief Constable, James KIRKALDY, rose to rank of Brigadier General and was awarded the following medals: Distinguished Service Order and Two Bars, and the Croix de Guerre, and Commander of the Orders of St. Michael and St. George"
Despite his rank and awards I have not been able to find ANYTHING on him in any Canadian or Commonwealth war sites or search engines ?! Very odd. I am starting to theink that maybe Kirkaldy was a middle name or something.
Does anyone have more inforamtion on him ?
