May 15 1919, 11:00 a.m. Winnipeg General Strike Begins

At 11 am today between 25,000 and 30,000 workers left their workplaces and joined in the number of smaller strikes that were going on around the city. It shut down the third largest city in Canada.

Cities around North America watched and some held smaller sypathetic strikes. One of those cities was Brandon which held it's own general strike on 20 May 1919.
