Brandonites had to vote a SECOND time in 1896 in a by-election when McCarthy decided to sit as member for Simcoe.
Hon. Clifford Sifton, was elected Nov 27 1896 and served Brandon for nearly 15 years. He was Minister of the Interior and Superintendent General of Indian Affairs from 1896 - 1905.
