Brandon Asylum Fire: November 4 1910

One of the largest fires in Brandon's history occurred on the evening of Friday November 4 1910 when fire broke out at the Brandon Asylum.
Despite the efforts of the entire fire department, in the end, over 700 people were displaced and one person was killed.
With the help of staff, students, city residents and the militia nearly 700 patients had to be led into the city and relocated.
The person who died was a patient that wandered away and died of exposure.
