I also meant to add that I think it was owned by a golf pro named "Ron" Bull? I'm not 100% sure that's his first name, but I know Bull is his surname, hence the "Taurus" Golf I miss having a few different mini-golf courses in Brandon...

Neat to see this thread still with a heartbeat. 78 different members have chipped in with over 150 posts... this to me is what the forums are all about!

A couple more:

- Joe's Sports Cards (I believe on 10th, though want to say they moved around a bit)

- Across from Superstore in the strip mall in the 90s there was one of the first computer stores before big boxes got into the game. Name escapes me but its where we bought our first computer for $2000+. Adjust for inflation and you're probably talking $3000 in today's dollars. It's been long since parted out but I don't think you could get a nickel for it today

If I remember correctly there was a Salisbury House on Hwy1/Hwy10 intersection where the Volvo Service center is situated currently.

Home hardware on 18th by the Keystone Centre used to be Beaver Lumber, to the north of it used to be an orange Pioneer grain and a Manitoba Pool Elevator.

That Mall on Richmond had a Quiznos in it and beside it was Breakaway Sports cardshop. Dropped a good chunk of change there as a kid.

How about Friar Tucks restaurant in the building across from the old Binkly motors on Princess open 24 hours very rowdy place on the weekends after the bars closed and if i remember correctly it was a Salisbury House either before or after Friar tucks.

Before it was a repair shop it was an American motors dealership they sold the Jeep line then before Chrysler took it over and they had Renault cars too remember the Le Car there where a few around town the owner was Len Kindrat he previously had the shell gas station on the corner of 18th and Rosser where the strip mall is now

You are correct, before Fowler's it was Brandon Automobiles. It was at 5th and Rosser though, not 6th and Princess.

You are correct, before Fowler's it was Brandon Automobiles. It was at 5th and Rosser though, not 6th and Princess. "

I could picture it, but then just could not remember Princess or Rosser.

There used to be a Hobby Hut on 6th st between Rosser & Pacific, Kinsey Wool and Lewis Craft in the Gallery.

Belles and Bowes was downtown on Princess I believe. I remember a Chimo Lumber near the 18th street bridge.

I would appreciate if someone could tell me if we had a Tom Boy foods and where it was. I remember it being a large store but I was pretty young back then and everything was big.

The lumber store at pacific and 18 was Smiths Lumber,used to sponser a show on ckx
Ravens Fish and Chips on 10th and southern area. where the union shop? is

I think the Tom Boy was on the SW corner of 26th and Willowdale, where the church is now.

Attached to that building, closer to 26th was Mama Fazio's Pizza place.

Other places - not sure if they have been mentioned: Rideau Lodge used to be the Brandon Gaol, The law offices etc on the south-east corner of 11th and Princess used to be the bus depot and where the bus depot is now, used to be a Safeway. Also, Kullberg's on 18th used to be a Safeway as well. Princess Park used to be city hall and the police station was where the old YMCA was. The hockey rink/arena used to be where the Police Station is now - and there was a roller rink on the west side facing the armoury.

Any 1 remember a record store called Autumn Stone? it would have been located next to the original "Fun Shop" on 6th st..

How about the old YMCA which was located where the seniors residence is just north of current location. Pool was cold and dark..bathing suites optional..

Didn't see Smitties Barber shop / Tabaco shop mentioned..

How about Mutters?? was a grocery store on Rosser Just west of Zeekes. I rember going there as a kid and buying cheese that was stored in barrels..

Im going to stop now cause that last one made me feel realy old...

Autumn Stone was not located by The Fun Shop on 6th. It was just up (south) from The Metropolitan Department Store on 8th Street between Rosser and Princess Avenue. It was a pretty cool little place in it's time.

The 1965'ish built Brandon Family YMCA was located immediately south of the Beaubier Hotel at the southeast corner of 8th and Princess. Bathing suits were a must.

Some of the Mutter's Display cases may be displayed or profiled in Daly House Museum now on 18th Street.

was in BDN prior to 1965, the original was as noted. first swimming lessons in 65 (yikes..)it was built in 1905 and located at 241 – 8th Street.

Fowlers was never Brandon Automobiles. Murrays was originally Brandon Automobiles. I posted a link below from the Murrays Auto Group website about the history of Murrays. Scroll down to 1960 where it says quote:
"Murray's Garage expands to Brandon, Manitoba. Clair Murray becomes president and general manager of Brandon Automobile Ltd."

I saw a neat aerial photo of the new development south of the 9th street traffic circle (grasslands?) from the mid 90's when it was just a field. I remember driving down the north hill on 18th with my dad looking for deer in the field where the corral center is located. I also remember before brookewood when 34th and Richmond was the corner of town, my parents say they remember when 26th and Richmond was the corner and I though it would be neat if anyone has old aerial photos theyd like to share.

Cranberry's restaurant, on richmond ave used to be a 7/11 at one point. And in between being consumers distributing and peningtons there was a golf shop there that i believe was crook-shanks. I'm not sure if this one was done yet but dollarama on 18th was a shoppers drug mart and before that it was a gas station. and on 18th south of earl oxford there is hair salon(Vivid salon I think), but before that it was a couple different tattoo shops before that it was a second hand store, and before that it was a corner store.
