I'm trying to find info about the construction that is supposed to start at the intersection but I can find anything. Does anyone know if their would be detours for busses? There isn't info  
on the transit website. Thanks.

I thought it was the traffic circles on 34th? not at Vic and 34th? maybe im wrong?

Both the traffic circle on 34th is closed and starting tomorrow the intersection of 34th and Victoria will close for construction.  
 
But as for bus routes, I`d contact Brandon Transit and ask about changes to bus routes because of construction

Check the road closures on the city website. Admittedly not super easy to find. There should be links from the traffic section.

Of what I can gather, there will be construction on Victoria Ave from 34th st. west and it will last 3 months. For those who may going around the construction via Rosser Ave, be mindful of the school zone on East Fotheringham Drive during the school year.

Says on the website the construction on 34Th and vic should only last a few days , not months !

Closure this Monday if for 3 days I do believe. Full construction to follow which will take months. Just look at all the paint marks around the intersection and you can see the scope of the build. Huge changes coming

Obviously the website hasn''t said that Victoria Ave. west of 34th st. will be under construction for 3 months! They will be putting in sewer, lowering the road and resurfacing for starters.

Sounds like the hope is to have 34th and Victoria up by Halloween...

I'm so frustrated with the construction at that intersection. It has taken 3 months with many days where I saw no one working there. McTavish has been closed causing more problems. Why not do it in sections and leave 34th street open as long as possible. Just like they did on Vic Ave there

My work place is in the area that is affected by the construction. There's been many times in the last couple of months which I've watched lots of people standing around while one person is working or seeing the trucks idling for over an hour between 38th st. and Fowler's in case of yesterday.  
 
I have some questions:  
 
1) Why didn't the project get started much earlier?  
 
2) We had near perfect weather for construction. Why is the project running late?  
 
3) Why isn't Victoria Ave not being twinned to atleast to 38th st. if not to Fotheringham Dr. and just do the construction right and get it done and over with.

I live in the apartment building on the corner of 34th and Victoria. My husband and I have noticed the same things: 5-8 workers standing around while one other person is working. It’s super frustrating not being able to get around that area. One morning the construction workers had BOTH exits/ entrances to our apartment complex parking lot blocked off! I had to ask the flag person to move tha barricades in order to leave for work... so irritating.

is provincial highways, so its on their agenda, starts late in season as there are other locations that needed starting sooner I guess. if there were enough road crews to get everything done in the province by july.then nothing else we would see most leave to where there is work for the entire season. which is what we have now.  
 
I admit it is frustrating to see it last so long, but try the 13 or 14 K section going to minnedosa 2 years in the making.  
 
and their method of doing it is so hodgepodge it is like someone does not know how to organize a road development.  
 
kinda like the bridge fiasco on 18th a few years back. took forever.  
 
any bets on how long these road rebuilds will last until they come back and start fixing, -- 2 years

You folks haven't lived until you've waited on Pembina Highway to get under the overpass under construction t Jubilee, the closest alternate route being Waverley St which is also has a new underpass under construction.  
 
Brandon traffic is nothing after this stuff during rush hour.  
 

I agree. Sure it was an inconvenience for the ones that travelled through it everyday but it could have been much worse than it was.

It was definitely an inconvenience and a lot of people have been complaining about how long it took, but given the scope of the project and the amount of work involved, I can't complain. I live not too far away from the intersection and went through it daily and it wasn't uncommon for crews to be working there in the mornings before 7 am and to still be working there after 8 pm. There was even quite a few Saturday's they worked there. Sure there was days no one was around for whatever reason but, 9 times out of 10 they were working there. Definitely be nice when it''s done though.

Well, for the first time in what seems like a very long time I was able to cross Victoria at 34th St. this morning. It may not be completely finished but it's open to traffic and looks pretty nice.

Makes me wonder after the first winter of snow clearing how much concrete will be busted up by graders and loaders.

It seems par for the course for a lot of Canadian cities battling tough winter conditions. Too many streets to clear and everyone bitching if it wasn't done yesterday.

have taken so long if they just shut it down and everyone had to go by another route, But then you would have been complaining about that. It's not easy when you have to work around traffic. Use some common sense in your thinking.

I drove though the intersection today at 5:00. Is it ever weird turning east onto Victoria from southbound 34th Street. The Victoria Avenue left turn lane has two boulevards I had to take a little time to figure out if I was driving into the correct lane. Give it a try - it's a brain twister.

They sure went crazy with all the concrete curbing there. What a waste of $$$$

Just wondering how much knowledge you have about road construction?

If you have trouble negotiating intersections like that you should take the bus instead.

No response for T-Tops - he/she sounds like he/she knows what heshe is talking about. However, I sure would like to hear Oryx's explaination of his knowlege of road construction and why the curbs were constructed the way they were at 34th and Vic.- what ``purpsose'' did the engineers have in mind with their design?

Was reading on here and worried about the design of new construction. Drove into Brandon today.  
 
Great job. The turning lanes for left turns are fantastic. I really like how construction is turning out.
