Any comments before and after?
I am not a Trump fan. I am sure there he has some good ideas, but never heard a solid plan to fix things.
Aside from his ability to manage business transactions and some economic strategies - but to run a country in his mental state, it maybe not be in the best interest of Americans. He just appears to be sub-human with his brain's inability to filter out the "diarrhea of the mouth" issues.
That said, I find it all amusing to say the least. Netflix/Crave has nothing close to this.

It just keeps getting more and more imbalanced.

It's going to be interesting for sure.

Personally, I think they're farther ahead with a prosecutor (even though she may or may not have worked at McD's) as long as she surrounds herself with legit advisors.

The "orange one" will surround himself with his most loyal grovelers and then watch him go wild! First target...those damn windmills that kill birds and whales!

If he loses, there will be craziness x 1000...especially when his sentences are handed down and he's taken away...Melania will be so happy!

not scary enough to have trump in power again, but people he will have in various departments. RFK, Jr. for Health is possible, and anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist. Elon Musk incharge of a department and who knows who else. He's going to make sure he gets people just as insane as he is to run the various departments.

I just can't believe it's this close to where he could be elected again. In the past the GOP would NEVER allow such a person to lead them.

I still remember:
- the sinking feeling on a drive back from Winnipeg on election night in 2016, knowing some of the kinds of things this guy winning the most powerful job there is would have a chance at normalizing. As the world was changing a wise friend reminded me “everyone gets a vote” and that clearly a lot of people who were underestimated and had felt unheard spoke up, whether or not it was for the right reasons
- the relief in 2020 when he lost, feeling that decency was winning out

Here we are again, and the stakes couldn’t be higher for fundamental issues like the health of the planet, the balance of world power, the rule of law, gender and racial equality, something as simple as a fact and the whole idea of an election in a democracy. Sure it's another country but the implications for this one are huge too.

I’m not sure I see the path to there being less division 24 hours from now, but gotta believe it starts with a vote that’s hopefully more convincing than 2020 that sends the old guy packing in a way he & enablers would have a hard time denying. Can’t tell if it’s heart or head talking, but I feel like women voters are going to offer up one gigantic “find out.” That combined with a female president is going to be another kind of “everyone gets a vote” reminder for some folks that really need one

Absolutely agree. I think history demonstrates that other nations voting in fascist, self serving individuals can have implications that reach many nations. One candidate has manipulated millions of vulnerable people into believing his self serving rhetoric by using religion and racism to relate to the masses. There have been other charismatic leaders who have used times of economic and social crisis to manipulate voters into electing them, and then once they’ve gained power they have began pursuing their actual agenda that has ramifications that can be felt all over the world. Hopefully enough people can see beyond the lies to do what is right.

Several of your points are incredibly misinformed, but you missed the most important part- and that would be the fact that his presidency would continue to strip women of basic reproductive rights and access to life saving health care. You aforementioned freedom of speech, so surely the fact that certain states would like to monitor women’s health records to ensure they don’t ‘break the rules’, shouldn’t sit right with you. Also, I’m not sure why anyone in Canada would actually be advocating for a trump victory, because he does not care about Canada. He only cares for himself. His presidency could negatively affect trade deals with Canada, and considering that more than 77% of Canadian exports go to the USA, that doesn’t seem like a positive. Trumps proposition for an across the board 10% tariff has been projected to cost Canada $30 billion a year in economic costs. Also, trump is completely uneducated in politics- 40 members of his former administration have attested to this fact. They literally stated that he was completely uneducated in basic political knowledge, and was the biggest threat to democracy in most people’s lifetime. The man idolizes leaders like Hitler and Putin, and constantly lies to his followers and is refuted on a daily basis. He uses religion and racism to rally followers, when he clearly has no religious values and is simply creating a cult mentality. When he lost the 2020 election he encouraged storming the capital in a disgusting display of narcissism. He is also incredibly old. The entire idea of advocating for his presidency is ridiculous, and even more ridiculous from anyone in Canada when his presidency would have a negative impact on our economy. You can be a conservative in this country and still have the common sense to see that Trump is a complete idiot and his followers are so misguided and brainwashed is legitimately sad

Human beings would be the key word here. An embryo is not a human being. Women often require abortions as a medical necessity, such as ectopic pregnancy or risk to the mothers. Children who have been assaulted should not be forced to go through a pregnancy, women who have been assaulted should not be forced to endure a pregnancy, and women who simply don’t want a child should also not be forced to endure a pregnancy. We don’t need to create laws based on religion, it’s absurd. Not everyone is a member of your ridiculous book club, and some of us would rather see laws based on common sense, science and freedom of choice.

Truly disappointing that that many either signed off on or weren’t paying enough attention to enable the kind of xenophobic, discriminatory, misogynistic, self-centred and authoritarian-inspired worldview that the campaign was about as overt as you can be about supporting.

The takeaway that I’ll build optimism around is that about 1 in every 2 people in that particular country were able to see through it. It’s what the other 1 in 2 will support for the next four years that has me concerned and hoping for the best for American friends. There are signs to hope Canada’s and Manitoba’s ratios are better than that as much as we clearly can’t take for granted how easily this type of movement can find people to check a box.
As a personal decision it’s time to put whatever energy I was putting into that country and focus as much as I can on the one I live, raise a child and run a business in. We've got some amazing pieces up here that make us consistently ranked as one of the best places in the world to live and one respected for its compassion and diversity. Today shows just how much that can't be taken for granted.

In Canada, the U.S. & much of Europe liberals have encouraged
mass migration solely as a means of retaining political power.
They totally disregard the resultant economic & social damage
in their greed for power.
This has resulted in a conservative upsurge & return to sensible
governance. The same will happen in Canada within a year.

This thread illustrates the way that things are going. People have different versions of the truth and can choose who and what they believe. It's unfortunate that we are becoming more and more divided, with fewer and fewer common beliefs.

Our media and social media are helping to push us that way and I feel that Canada is also headed down that path.

Well Trump as president will not be good for Canada. Get ready for his bully tactics. He'll slap tariffs on Canadian goods right away as a negotiating tactic. It'll be like deja vu with wood products and dairy. He likes trade wars. He doesn't like U.S. car/parts manufacturers that have factories here and will pressure them to move to the US. And all those illegal immigrants he wants to chase out ? How many will head north?

he does as he says and deports large numbers of illegal immigrants, who does he expect to do the work that they do for the wages that are currently being paid. It will not be Americans, as like in the UK when it left the EU all the Eastern Europeans that did the mucky, labour intensive jobs like fruit and vegetable picking, for low wages, did not come back in the same numbers and farmers/producers were unable to get home country staff to do the work for the previously paid wage, or the work conditions.
Same will apply in the States, so expect the price of imported foodstuffs to rise even before any additional tariffs are imposed.
Guess we will find out at the end of January, perhaps his friend will give every USA citizen a million pounds, would still leave him money in the bank.

PP becomes PM, how much ass-kissing will he be doing to trump. Since most conservative voters in Canada tend to be very supportive of trump. Will PP just give into whatever trump wants, especially for renegotiating NAFTA.

Also funny how trump keeps demanding countries should pay their share into NATO when he has clearly made it clear that he doesn't pay anyone. How many cities where his rallies are held are still waiting for payment. There are numerous companies that have done work for his business and never got paid. His statements about paying overtime and will hire more people instead of paying OT. He's made a career out of scamming people then refusing to pay people. He's only going to cater to the wealthy billionaire donors.

The sheer fact that he got elected after being proven to be a liar and EVERYTHING else he has done. There is no other time in America's past anyone like trump would ever even be nominated. But it has been shown he can say and do anything and still be elected twice!!! He has made it ok to be hateful to anyone who isn't MAGA or share right-wing christian conservative values.

There is also a good chance Musk will be involved in the trump government in a capacity that will directly benefit Musk. Musk wants reduced regulations that his companies have to follow. So getting rid of safety regulations for SpaceX and Tesla just so he can profit more. Musk wants less regulations for self-driving cars. Then if he can get rid of FAA regulations to allow his SpaceX plans to go unhindered

2 billionaires with huge egos incharge of the US is a huge mistake! But those egos will likely also clash bigtime as both want all of the attention.

Then if RFK, Jr is put in charge the health system, say hello to mass deaths from diseases that where kept in check with vaccines. If you though the health care system is bad now just wait. Women will be dying because they can't get care because in clashes with religious beliefs.

The US is in for a world of hurt and they voted for it. They believe the BS trump has told them that he will fix EVERYTHING.
