Attention Pedestrians!
11/30/2010 at 2:45 PM
Ive noticed lately there seems to be alot of pedestrians that like to take there life in there own hands.
Starting to walk across a road or crosswalk and expecting the cars to stop for you is one thing in the summer. However doing the same in the winter is like playing russian roulette. Ya should probly wait to see if the couple thousand pound vehicle that your walking infront is going to be able to stop before you walk infront of it...
As Well parents please explain this to your kids as well.
One of the scariest things in my life happened the other day as i was passing a school that had crossing lights, driving a bit slower because school had just let out.
As im approching the crossing lights i see a few younger kids hit the button in mid stride and not even turn there heads to look for traffic as they ran out infront of me. The road wasnt cleared or sanded and nicley glazed with ice. Driving a truck dosnt help the stopping distance either.
Too make things worse the one girl finally noticed me slidding towards her and instead of moving went to deer in the headlights.
I was able to stop probly about a foot from her by turning into the curve and snow bank.
I dont think i, much less anyone else could cope with hitting a child even if it wasnt fully my fault.
If your child walks to school please just remind them to wait until everyone is stopped before they cross!
